Founded in 1989, Towers Productions, Inc. (TPI) has produced over one thousand hours of factual and entertainment programming for US and international television networks including A&E, The Biography Channel, CNN, CourtTV (truTV), The History Channel, Discovery Networks, Lifetime, MSNBC, NBC, National Geographic Channel, PBS, WGN and The Weather Channel. Among the Company’s signature series are American Justice and Biography (A&E), The Final Report (National Geographic Channel), Storm Stories (The Weather Channel) and the syndicated comedy series Sports Action Team.

Jonathan Towers, Founder and Chairman of TPI, created the company in 1989 with an investment of $10,000. American Justice, the first award-winning major success for Towers, debuted on A&E in 1992. Within a decade TPI emerged as one of America's leading documentary television producers. In 1993, Towers was nominated for a National Emmy Award for Investigative Journalism, as well as the CableAce Award for documentary writing. In 1998, Crain’s Chicago Business magazine named Towers one of the city’s top “40 under 40” business leaders. Most recently TPI was nominated for a Prime Time Emmy Award, and also honored for Best Writing and Best News Documentary Special at the New York Festival for the four-part mini-series Inside 9/11, produced for the National Geographic Channel.

In 2006, TPI named William Fisher as its Chief Executive Officer. A veteran television executive and co-founder of investment fund Collegia Capital, LLC, Fisher was previously President of Playboy TV International (1999-2001), Senior Vice President of HBO International (1995-1999), and Vice President of STAR TV, where he was part of the management team that launched Asia’s dominant satellite TV programming service.
