Speaking of TV, last night I had the opportunity to attend a
pre-screeing of the pilot episode of Chicago’s first reality show,
Plastic Royalty, at Tribecca Flashpoint Academy.
During cocktail hour, a strangely familiar voice caught my
attention. I looked over to see a man who looked like “California”
Santa with ice blue eyes. It was Dr. Leon Forrester Tcheupdjian, or
“Dr. T” as he is known to his patients. The radio commercials he does
for his plastic surgery business are legendary in Chicago and here he was, in the flesh! At his side was
Leslie Forrester, an instantly likable kid who schooled me on spray
tanning and admitted to me she was 35. (Impossible!) These are the
stars of the show, and within the hour, I could see why.
We all dumped our drinks and headed up the the screening room.
Plastic Royalty follows the lives of Dr. T and his number one
assistant, his gorgeous daughter Leslie through the fascinating, upbeat
life at their plastic surgery office.
The crowd was hushed and a delicious montage of pokes, prods and
drama appeared on the screen. Plastic Royalty is good TV with all the
fixin’s: A girl who is prettier than you whom you don’t hate, a bunch
of money bags experiencing heartache, a close-up of vibrating butt
cheeks, tears and a smidgen of gore!
I’m not a big TV person, but you will LOVE this show. It’s got more
heart than Dr. 90210 and Dr. T is surprisingly funny. “Crows feet are
for the birds!”
