Nat Geo Goes To War

National Geographic Channel has greenlit a special about the war in Iraqi entitled Road to War, starting with how 9/11 put the Bush presidency on to a war footing.

Chicago-based factual producer Towers Productions is the production company and will also handle global sales of the hour, for which it retains the international television rights.

The interview-led documentary will offer a first-hand account of the events leading up to the US-led invasion of Iraq and its aftermath, with a particular focus on President Bush and his decision-making.

It will air in late August on Nat Geo in the US. Towers will add the show to its catalogue that also includes The Final Report for Nat Geo, and After Saddam and The Case Against Saddam, both for Discovery Networks.

Towers is also behind factual cable series such as Secrets of the Koran for History Channel, National Geographic’s Inside 9/11 and A&E’s American Justice, and was set up by former CNN and ABC newsman Jonathan Towers in 1989.
