Jonathan Towers is the Chief Creative Officer and Executive Producer of the company’s programming. Since founding the company in 1989, Mr. Towers has created nearly one thousand hours of high-quality, non-fiction and entertainment programming. Clients include A&E, Biography Channel, Court TV (truTV), CNN, Discovery Networks, Food Network, History, TLC, Lifetime, MSNBC, National Geographic Channel, NBC, PBS, The Weather Channel and WGN.
After graduating summa cum laude from Yale University, Mr. Towers became a Writer/Producer for the former Satellite News Channel in Stamford, Connecticut. Thereafter, he joined CBS News in New York, where he wrote morning radio broadcasts for the legendary anchor Charles Osgood. Mr. Towers subsequently became an on-air correspondent for CNN, first in Dallas, then in Chicago.
In 1989, with an investment of $10,000, he founded Chicago-based Towers Productions. Over the past 18 years, Towers Productions has grown into one of the nation’s leading independent production houses. Among the company’s major successes have been the award-winning series “American Justice” and “Biography,” which debuted in 1992 on A&E and - with hundreds of episodes to date - remain two of the longest-running and most successful programs in the history of cable television.
